Sam Playford is a Senior Policy Officer in the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts, where he has been involved in developing the policy for Australia's New Vehicle Efficiency Standard. Originally a trained solicitor, Sam took a radical departure five years ago from Family Law practice to the world of transport decarbonisation policy, fulfilling his dream to be involved in some way in the car industry that began as a 12-year-old attending the Melbourne International Motor Show.

Outside of his policy work, Sam is an avid commuting and racing cyclist and live music devotee. He is delighted to share his insights with the AEVA and contribute to the dialogue on driving practical pathways for Australia's decarbonisation journey.
