NVES on track to bring us more EVs
AEVA has welcomed the 2025 NVES results showing that 40 out of 59 regulated entities met or exceeded their targets, indicating conclusively that the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) is working well. In AEVA's view, the NVES is working as planned, although the first year could be considered a rehearsal as entities get organised to participate in the system. AEVA looks forward to the planned NVES review in late 2026, and to seeing what the NVES data tells us in February 2027.

AEVA releases destination charging guide
AEVA has released a destination charging guide to assist accommodation and tourism businesses with providing EV charging for their customers. Destination charging involves placing relatively slow EV charging at journey destinations. A motel might, for example, provide charging points for guests that are fast enough to fully re-charge a vehicle overnight. The guide walks businesses through the decision-making steps, explaining the benefits to the business, the types of charging equipment a business could install, and how to price the service to recover electricity costs.

AEVA welcomes proposal for a Polluter Pays Levy
AEVA has welcomed the proposal from the Superpower Institute to establish a "Polluter Pays Levy". The Institute has proposed a levy on the carbon content of fossil fuels, applied upstream and on imports, delivering substantial emissions reductions. AEVA has consistently expressed concern about the insecurity of Australia's supply chain of liquid fuel supplies, and has advocated for an acceleration in transport electrification as a key measure to mitigate this risk.
